I was an Arizona State licensed residential general contractor from 1976 until late 2012 at which time I deactivated the license as I moved into semi-retirement. Currently, since that time my primaryign/build custom homes, remodels, and additions. I like to call myself a construction lifer because I grew up in the business watching my parents design and build various reside interest has been promoting and advising the incorporation of radiant cooling into new home construction as well as advising clients on the best way to desntial projects from individual homes to small subdivisions in the 50's and 60's in southern California. We would regularly sit at the dining table with drafting paper drawing and debating about a better floor plan. Their business model was, as mine is today;design a 'better home'.

Given the reality of the never ending increase in energy costs, the need for a healthier indoor environment (because of the increased tightness of the thermal envelope, the shell) of the home and the desire of homeowners to have the indoor environment thermally comfortable, The S.E.E.D. Home ™ (Super Energy Efficient Designed) that I designed, built and lived in for 6 years post construction is a proven success for all the aforementioned issues. Moreover, the home was tested and monitored by the Dept. of Energy (DOE) Build America Program research engineers for nearly 2 years producing multiple reports and reviews. Additionally, it received the NAHB Research Council Energy Value Housing Award (EVHA) 2012 Gold Award for Hot/Dry Climate.
